POLIN – Museum of Polish Jews

Saving the Voice of the Ghetto

To preserve Holocaust memories after survivors are gone, the POLIN Museum created
an AI voice of Stella Fidelseid, based on her 1997 recording. This synthetic voice captures her emotions, recounting her Warsaw Ghetto Uprising memories for the first time.
The story was shared on a dedicated page, promoted in the former ghetto area,
and became the museum’s most popular exhibit with 136,000 visitors. It garnered
150 articles and 5 million social media views. Praised by ElevenLabs, the voice was also affirmed by Stella’s granddaughter as a true likeness.

The project I created content for “Saving the Voice of the Ghetto” for the POLIN Museum, won 4 awards (out of 4 submissions), including Best of Contest! The international jury evaluated over 900 entries from 19 countries around the world.

Two sides of the wall

The installation is a symbolic wall, with a one-way mirror on one side allowing observation of what is happening behind the wall. The other side of the wall is a mirror reflecting passersby and observers—people just like those who lived and perished in the ghetto. We wanted the residents of Warsaw, as well as tourists, to learn their stories. Stories that survived the sea of fire.
